Wilderness Skijor Race 

Official Skijor Rules

A. Course: The 4-mile race trail is a scenic loop that traverses varied terrain across privately owned property on snowmobile or non-snowmobile groomed trails

B. Conditions of Entry: The race is limited to 15 teams. All entries and any changes to entries must be made through John Osmond at wildernesssleddograce@gmail.com

A 50-dollar fee will be charged for any bad checks!

All out of country mushers will need to send money orders, certified checks or pay through the website www.100milewildernessrace.org using PayPal.

All entrants must attend the drivers’ meeting on Saturday February 7, 2026, time to be determined, at Leisure Life Resort.


Note: Bibs will be drawn at the drivers meeting to determine when each musher leaves the starting line. There will be a $20.00 deposit for race bibs, musher’s who choose to keep their bib will forfeit
their $20.00 deposit.


Rabies certificates and DHLPP vaccinations will be checked.

C. Number of Dogs: 1 Dog


D. Race Start: The official start is Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Leisure Life Resort in Greenville, Maine. The starting time is 11:30 a.m. Teams will leave the starting line in 3-minute intervals.


1.) The team must be attached via harness and towline to the skijorer’s belt in a safe and secure manner, leaving the skijorer’s hands free of the line. The towline shall be 8-12 feet long with a quick point of detachment within arm’s length of the skier. All two-dog teams need to have a neckline attached unless running single lead.


2.) When passing skijorers need not come to a full stop, but must slow and immediately yield the right of way upon demand. In the event that the skijor team that was passed hangs on for two minutes or one-half mile, he/she shall have the right to demand trail. Be mindful that your ski pole tips do not hit another skijorer or their dogs. A competitor must maintain a minimum distance of 20 feet between his/her dog(s) and the skijorer in front. Passing rules do not apply to the last 1/2 mile, commonly referred to as “no-
man’s land”.


3.) The tips of the skijorer’s skis shall determine the starting point of the team. The tip of the lead dogs’ nose will determine the finish time of the team.
